A beautifully crafted millwork package integrates functional storage with contemporary elegance, enhancing the home’s usability and design. A large sliding door opens to breathtaking highbank views along the Roberts Creek coast, inviting the outdoors in and making the scenery an integral part of daily life. The landscape design of this creatively connects the home to its surroundings, offering inviting spaces to relax, play, and gather.

Redesigned as a multigenerational retreat, this haven is coastal living at its best—a sanctuary where timeless materials meet luxurious functionality to create a structure with longevity. This major renovation included the addition of a rooftop patio complete with a spa and sauna, and expanded contemporary living space. Chic open spaces strike a refined feel, and connect smoothly to the rooftop patio with a large pocket sliding door, opening up to seaside views. Spaces are tied together by the consistent use of wood shingles, echoing the local vernacular and adding warmth to the modern aesthetic. The result is an inviting and thoughtful home, perfectly posted for groups to gather for generations to come.

Transforming a small, dated single-family home into a dynamic and functional space was no small feat—but the results speak for themselves. A new bedroom wing was added, set at a skewed angle to the main living area, creating interesting views and spatial connections. The living room extends seamlessly into a large, light-filled covered outdoor area, designed as an extension of the interior rather than a traditional patio. The architectural flow is reinforced by a bold roofline, where a purposeful cut in the gable integrates the outdoor space with the overall structure, blurring the boundaries between inside and out.

Originally an architecturally significant home from the early 1960s, this waterfront retreat was thoughtfully reimagined with modern design and an extensive energy retrofit to meet Passive House standards. It’s also in a stunning waterfront location, perched above the ocean, with panoramic views of the Salish Sea.

The renovation retained the original footprint while adding an enclosed glass conservatory with a cozy gas fireplace to create a sense of warmth as well as a connection to nature. The roof pitch was elevated on the waterfront side, transforming into a striking butterfly roof that pivots on one of the home’s exposed beams. Strategic tapered overhangs were introduced to provide seasonal shading, fine-tuning solar heat gain throughout the year. The enhanced building envelope, featuring advanced insulation and high-performance windows, minimizes energy requirements and ensures a consistently comfortable interior, even in extreme weather. Clean, contemporary lines and finishes frame the sweeping views, allowing the landscape to take center stage, and a minimalist layout blends sustainable design with timeless coastal style.
